The Puritan Faith: Sermons on the Chief Points of the Christian Religion
During the span of a single month in 1659, Puritan ministers throughout London gathered at the church of St. Giles in the Fields each weekday to deliver sermons which were “digested into a method.” That is, the topics were chosen with the intent of covering the chief points of the Christian religion. Put in more modern terms, these preachers delivered a systematic theology of the Christian faith through their sermons. Over the course of twenty-eight sermons, these ministers covered such theological topics as the doctrines of God, Man, Scripture, the Covenants, Christology, Redemption, Sanctification, Last Things, and much more. With classic Puritan warmth and precision, these sermons cover the important touchpoints of the faith, giving the original hearer - and the modern reader – an understanding of Christianity that is full of light and heat, depth as well as breadth, remaining to this day a true blessing to both heart and mind.
